November 3, 2011

I Call to Order
  • The meeting was called to order at 7:05
  • Attendance 34
  • John Steward presiding
  • On motion the agenda was approved as amended

II Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance
  • Invocation by Joe Pomykacz
  • Pledge of Allegiance led by Craig Horn

III   Greetings, recognition of first time attendees
  • Greetings of newcomers (Matt Johnson, Jason Lambert, Richard Parke, Trey Robinson, Richard Johnson)

IV Vice-Chair Comments
  • none

V Secretary Report
  • The minutes of the prior meeting, have already been passed out, were presented for approval and were approved upon motion
  • Announcement was made of plans to develop a flyer for 2012 distribution

VI Treasurer - Finance Report 
  • Treasurer's report was presented by Treasurer Duggan, and on motion it was approved.

VII   Elected Officials & Candidate Acknowledgements
  • Recognition of candidates and office holders:  Roger Stanton, Trey Robinson, Todd Johnson, Anthon Berman, J.R. Rowe, Crystal Crump, Craig Horn.
VIII   Club Reports:
  • Sweet Union Republican Women's - Dianne Pomykacz
  • The Republican Men's Club - Andy Anderson
  • The Republican Forum - Curtis Blackwood

VIIII  Reports:
  • 8th District - Request was made for somebody to serve on rules committee of standing committee.
  • 9th District - Announcement that delegate to last year's State convention are automatically delegates to the upcoming District convention.
  • State - discussion by Craig Horn 
    • redistricting maps.  They are approved subject to technical details
    • Voter ID bill
    • DOMA - vote in May 2012 expected
    • Eminent Domain Bill - constitutional amendment
    • Cap for gas tax
    • Fracking natural gas - potential for 25000 jobs statewide
IX   Old Business
  • District maps finalized
  • Voter Vault - good turnout
  • Christmas Parades - Indian Trail on December 3 ($20), Monroe on November 20 ($30), Waxhaw on December 12 ($30).  On motion, it was decided to pay these entrance fees.
  • Board of Elections 

X   New Business
  • Findings of the district attorney (Trey Robinson).  Investigation is closed.  No criminal charges.
  • Announcement of Lincoln Reagan Day dinner - April 21st, 2012
  • Presentations by candidates.  Roger Stanton, Scott Buzzard, Lisa thornton, David Waddell, Barbara Harrison, Richard Johnson, Rick Alexander.
